Chicory

Chicory coffee is taken 2-3 times a day to stimulate appetite and for chronic gallbladder and liver diseases. In traditional medicine, the root is used for diabetes, digestion, and constipation. Externally, in the form of compresses, it is used for painful inflammations, eczema, and ulcerative conditions. Chicory decoction helps with functional constipation, common with changes in location (so-called travel constipation). Juice from the root, lightly rubbed into the scalp, promotes hair growth.
